Netflix is strengthening its presence in interactive entertainment with the introduction of FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, a football simulation game set to launch exclusively on Netflix Games on June 11, aligning with the opening of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
The new title is designed to deliver an easy-to-access football gaming experience, allowing players to use their smartphones as controllers while playing on a television screen. Available as part of a Netflix subscription, the game aims to bring football gaming to a broader audience, including casual gamers and families, while tapping into the excitement surrounding the global tournament.
Positioned as a fresh approach to FIFA-themed gaming, FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition emphasizes quick gameplay, social interaction, and accessibility. The game supports up to four players and enables users to represent any of the 48 national teams competing in the expanded FIFA World Cup 2026.
Players can compete across all 16 official tournament venues and choose from the tournament’s roster of 1,248 footballers. Netflix says the game is designed to capture the energy and passion of international football while remaining approachable for both dedicated fans and newcomers.
The company describes this release as a “Kickoff” edition, with future updates and enhancements planned to expand the experience over time.
The launch represents another milestone in Netflix’s broader gaming strategy. Since entering the gaming space in 2021, the company has steadily grown its portfolio through mobile games, cloud gaming initiatives, and interactive entertainment offerings designed to increase engagement beyond streaming content.
Ahead of the global rollout, Netflix has initiated a limited testing phase in Brazil. The game will be available through Netflix’s TV gaming platform, currently accessible in 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, and several other European markets. Additional territories are expected to be added in the future.
Users can access the game through the Games section on supported smart TVs by scanning a QR code with their smartphone, which then functions as the controller.
The release coincides with the start of the largest FIFA World Cup ever staged, featuring 48 national teams and hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
