Riyadh, 2026 — Acwa, a leading private desalination company, has announced the appointment of Liam Clarke as Vice President – Corporate Communications and Sustainability.
Operating from Riyadh, Clarke will oversee the company’s corporate and internal communications while also driving its sustainability agenda. This combined mandate is aimed at strengthening Acwa’s global expansion strategy and long-term business objectives.
“It is a privilege to contribute to a company playing such an important role in advancing the energy transition, water security and sustainable infrastructure worldwide,” said Clarke on his appointment.
Clarke had been serving in an interim capacity since November 2025, managing the organisation’s communications strategy and operations. His permanent appointment brings together communications and sustainability under a unified leadership structure, aligning with Acwa’s strategic priorities.
“Acwa is at an important stage in its global growth journey, and I am excited to take on this new role at such a defining moment for the company,” said Clarke.
By integrating these key functions, Acwa aims to enhance transparency in ESG performance, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and refine its corporate narrative—both internally and externally—to support international growth and capital access.
“Acwa has built an exceptional platform with global relevance, strong momentum and a clear sense of purpose,” Clarke added. “I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to further elevate the company’s corporate narrative, strengthen its sustainability leadership and deepen stakeholder dialogue as we continue expanding across diverse markets.”
Clarke brings close to 30 years of global experience across strategic communications, public affairs, and sustainability. Before joining Acwa, he spent over two decades at APCO, where he established and led its Riyadh office as Managing Director. Most recently, he served as Head of Global Business Development and Senior Client Counsel, and also led the firm’s Strategic Consulting practice.
Throughout his career, he has advised major global corporations including UPS, Microsoft, and ExxonMobil on areas such as ESG, sustainability, CSR, employee engagement, and strategic communications. He began his career at Weber Shandwick and earlier worked with the C.K. Blandin Foundation in communications and program management roles.
