Khaled AlShehhi Named Secretary General of Ras Al Khaimah Executive Council

Khaled AlShehhi has been appointed Secretary General of the Executive Council of Ras Al Khaimah, where he will oversee government strategy, public policy, performance, institutional transformation and future readiness.

In his new position, AlShehhi will lead the Council’s General Secretariat, supporting the implementation of the emirate’s leadership vision through coordinated government initiatives and long-term development priorities.

Commenting on his appointment, Khaled AlShehhi, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Ras Al Khaimah, said, “Creativity is not decoration. It is how you understand a problem properly, ask a better question and bring the right people to the table. Government needs that as much as any brand does. It is the mindset I bring to Ras Al Khaimah, alongside the rigour the work demands.”

He added, “I am honoured by the confidence of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council. The responsibility is to turn their vision into lasting progress, working with colleagues across government, and to be judged by what we actually deliver for people.”

From Government Communications to Public Leadership

AlShehhi joins the Executive Council after serving as Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at the UAE Government Media Office. During his tenure, he contributed to strengthening the Office’s creative standing and expanding the influence of government communications across the marketing, media and creative sectors.

His appointment follows a series of notable achievements for the Office and recognition of his own contributions to the industry. At the Dubai Lynx 2026 Awards, the UAE Government Media Office became the first government entity to receive the Advertiser of the Year honour, marking a significant milestone for government-led creative work in the region.

Reflecting on the recognition, AlShehhi said, “This recognition means a great deal to me. I know the effort behind the work, and the trust it took to back bold ideas. I am proud of what we built together, with the Office’s leadership, our team and our partners.”

AlShehhi has also earned recognition on the international creative stage. He became the first government-sector representative globally to serve on the PR Lions Awards Jury at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in its 72-year history.

In 2025, he was named Marketer of the Year at Campaign Middle East’s Marketing Game Changers Awards, recognising his contribution to marketing and creative communications.

Supporting Ras Al Khaimah’s Next Phase of Growth

As Ras Al Khaimah advances its economic and tourism ambitions, AlShehhi sees the creative industry as an important contributor to the emirate’s future development and identity.

He emphasised his continued commitment to supporting the UAE’s marketing, branding and creative economy, while encouraging industry professionals to engage with Ras Al Khaimah and contribute ideas that reflect its distinctive heritage, landscape and communities.

“The creative industry will always have an advocate in me,” he concluded. “Ras Al Khaimah has the ambition to grow and a strong identity to build on. Its people, its heritage and its landscape give it a character of its own. I want our industry to be part of that story. Come to Ras Al Khaimah, meet its people, and bring your ideas. There is a great deal we can create together.”
