IAA Expands Middle East Presence With New Qatar Chapter

The International Advertising Association (IAA) has expanded its presence in the Middle East with the launch of its Qatar Chapter, bringing together professionals from the country’s advertising, media and communications industries.

The new chapter was announced at IAA UNITE in London and becomes the association’s fifth chapter in the Middle East. Mohammed Jassim Mohamed Ibrahim Jaidah, Group Executive Director of Jaidah Group, will serve as its Chapter President.

Founded in New York in 1938, the IAA has more than 55 chapters worldwide and connects professionals across advertising, marketing, media and technology. The association supports industry development through professional standards, responsible creativity, knowledge sharing and cross-market collaboration.

Frederik Borestrom, Global President and Chairman of the IAA, said: “We are honoured and excited to establish our new IAA chapter in Qatar, further strengthening our commitment to this vital and rapidly developing region.”

The IAA said the Qatar Chapter will engage with government and industry stakeholders to contribute to the growth of marketing, advertising and communications in Qatar and across the wider region.

The chapter comes as Qatar continues to build its media and communications ecosystem, supported by digital infrastructure and its role in hosting major international events. The country is also home to major media organisations such as Al Jazeera and beIN Media Group.

Focus on Talent and Industry Development

The IAA Qatar Chapter will provide a platform for knowledge exchange, professional development and the sharing of industry best practices. Its activities will bring together government bodies, private-sector businesses, media organisations and creative institutions.

The chapter’s leadership team includes Hanan El Tabch as Secretary General; Emin Bawab as Treasurer and Senior Vice President; Antoine Geadah as Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing; Wassim AlDayah as Vice President of Public Service; Ziad Smayra as Vice President of Marketing and Membership Recruitment; Mazen Abd Rabbo as Vice President of Events and Programmes; and Moustapha Mikaty as Vice President of Communications and Website.

John Bassil and Alain David will serve as Board Members.

Jaidah said the new chapter will create a platform for industry leaders to collaborate while contributing to the development of local talent.

Planned activities include workshops, professional training and certification programmes, industry discussions and events. The chapter will also seek to strengthen connections between Qatar-based professionals and international advertising, media and communications communities.
