Former WPP CEO Mark Read Launches ‘Prompt’ to Connect AI Innovators, Business Leaders and Investors

Former WPP CEO Mark Read is set to launch a new AI-focused conference, Prompt, in London next month, bringing together AI startups, business and marketing leaders, investors, and technology experts under one platform.

According to reports, the event has been created to bridge the gap between emerging AI innovators and decision-makers seeking practical applications of artificial intelligence within their organizations. Prompt aims to provide a dedicated space where business leaders can engage directly with AI founders, investors, and technology specialists.

Speaking about the initiative, Read said, “I launched Prompt because I could see the opportunity to bring AI leaders together with business and marketing leaders.”

Highlighting the need for such a platform, he added, “There’s not a venue that does that today and what I hear from CEOs and CMOs is a desire not only to embrace AI but also to know who they should be talking to.”

The conference will feature a lineup of prominent speakers, including Debbie Weinstein, Vice President of Google EMEA, and James Wise, Chair of the UK government’s newly established Sovereign AI investment unit and Partner at Balderton Capital. Attendees will also hear from founders of emerging AI startups who are building innovative applications powered by large language models and other AI technologies.

Expanding on the rationale behind the event, Read said, “I launched Prompt because I could see the opportunity to bring AI leaders together with business and marketing leaders. There’s not a venue that does that today and what I hear from CEOs and CMOs is a desire not only to embrace AI but also to know who they should be talking to. They know the [large language] model companies but it’s the companies building applications on top of these models that can help them.”

Read also emphasized London’s growing importance in the global AI ecosystem, noting that the city is considered the world’s second-largest concentration of AI talent after San Francisco.

Prompt will take place on June 9 at London’s Design Museum and is scheduled to coincide with London Tech Week, one of Europe’s leading technology events.
