Dubai Media Launches Dubai+ Family-Safe Streaming Platform

Dubai Media Council (DMC) and Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) have unveiled Dubai+, a new digital streaming platform designed to deliver safe, family-friendly entertainment to viewers in the UAE and worldwide.

Dubai+ has been developed as a digital-first ecosystem that supports regional storytellers, nurtures Arab creative talent, and strengthens local content production. The platform also aims to expand international collaborations, enabling Arab stories to reach broader global audiences.

Operating on a hybrid model, Dubai+ combines advertising video-on-demand (AVOD) with subscription video-on-demand (SVOD). Viewers can access a wide selection of free, ad-supported programming, while affordable subscription plans unlock exclusive originals, premium titles, and major sports tournaments.

“Dubai+ represents a strategic step forward for us. It enhances our ability to create stronger content, reach wider audiences, and empower creative talent, while staying competitive in a fast-changing media environment,” said His Excellency Mohamed AlMulla, Chief Executive Officer, DMI.

Family-safe content at the core

Family-friendly programming aligned with the UAE’s cultural and social values sits at the heart of Dubai+. At launch, the platform offers more than 20 exclusive series, six original productions, over 170 international titles, and a dedicated sports catalogue featuring 12 live championships.

“We live in a world that is not short of content, but overwhelmed by it,” said His Excellency Salem Balyouha, Chief Executive Officer of Media Content Sector, DMI in his speech at the launch event.

“Every day, thousands of hours are produced across countless platforms and endless options,” he said. “In this environment, the challenge is no longer simply what to watch – but how to choose, and what we can trust.”

H.E. Balyouha explained that the emphasis on family-safe content shaped the platform’s development from the outset.

“When we set out to develop Dubai+, our primary question was not how many hours of content we could offer,” he said. “The more important question was the impact we wanted to have in every home.”

Dubai+ is built with advanced classification systems and transparent viewing controls, allowing families to confidently manage what appears on their screens and ensuring a secure viewing experience across households.

Championing locally powered storytelling

The platform actively invites creators, media professionals, and influencers from the region to collaborate and contribute as Dubai+ continues to evolve.

“Dubai+ is open to every creative idea and every Emirati and Arab voice striving for excellence,” said H.E. AlMulla. “Together, we can create content worthy of the name Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, and that resonates with the hope of future generations.”

Guided by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of DMC, the launch of Dubai+ marks a significant milestone in advancing Dubai’s digital media vision and strengthening the emirate’s media ecosystem.

The rollout further reinforces Dubai Media Incorporated’s role in shaping the regional media landscape and positions Dubai as a global hub for content creation and distribution.

Dubai+ subscriptions are priced at AED 21 per month. While global audiences can access free, ad-supported content, subscription services are currently available only across the Middle East and Africa.
